just purchased a 2005 20ft.triton alum. mod.vee w/115 ficht evinrude started w/23pitch prop now down to 17 pitch prop 23pitch ran at 4300rpm,17 pitch runs at 5400rpm.top speed never changed(40mph) unless trimmed up then it has out of control bow hopping.the dealer said this boat should be running a 23 pitch prop and another 10 mph according to his research.incredible out of the hole but lacking on top end.it seems like the boat is sitting in the water to much at full throttle.is it possible the motor needs to be raised since i dont have a jackplate

Id be surprised to see a 115 push a 20' boat to 50 MMPH even if it is aluminum, and is sure as H*ll isnt going to do it with a 23P prop. JMHO.
