Blacksmoke,

The plug got pulled on hybrids because they do not accomplish anything. It's like throwing money down a rat hole. The battery technology is not here yet, nor will it ever be. Hybrids are just grossly underpowered, internal combustion powered go karts.

Fuel cell technology is achievable. Their are current protpypes running around as we speak. I looked at one this week. The beuaty is they truly are zero emission vehicles. Unless you consider water a hazerdous substance. If you do, boy are you on the wrong website.

The problem is, infrastructure. You can't throw the switch on something that big-overnight.

Re: Proposed Presendential Speech

Hmmm...seems to me there are quite a few hybrids on the market now, and I haven't heard a lot of complaining. I'm not arguing Hydrogen isn't the way to go long term, but it's going to take a lot of fossil fuel to get there. Why on earth would the president stop development funding for a technology that will save energy in the meantime? Could it be there's a lot of money to be made converting petrochemicals into hydrogen?
