Good evening gentlemen
I have a 10 3/8 x 11 that gives me 4000 rpm.
A 10 1/2 x 13 that gives 3400 rpm.
My wot should be 4500.Would an 11x 9 get me there?
The cavitation plate of my engine sits about 2 inches deeper than the bottom of my flat bottom 1957 Herter's 16 footer.Should I try to raise the engine on the transom and if I did would the rpm change enough to use the recommended 10 3/8 x 13 1/4?
Or should I leave well enough alone and run the old engine on 4000 and not push it to the limit?
Does the RDE 19 have a 15" or a 17" shaft?
Thanks for all advice and opinions.

Last things first I guess. Measure from inside of the clamp, the part that sits on the transom, to the cav plate. That's the shaft length.
Next, I would use the 10 3/8 X 11 prop (it's the highest reving one) and with your normal load in the boat raise the engine up the transom until the prop ventilates and then drop the engine down 1/4" or so and see where that puts your revs.

c/6

Hooty

Hi Rolmops,
Getting your revs to the proper level will actually help your motor live longer! It will put less stress on the motor planing off and run more efficiently once on plane. Certainly do whatever it takes to get your motor running in it's happy place...
By the way, silly question, but are you getting full throttle advance?
- Scott

Hello.
Thank you Hooty and Scott.
I will try to raise the engine to the ideal spot, double check the throttle and check again to see if it is fully synchronized.
Scott, according to the pictures on your website you are quite a cold weather boater. The weather should be worse in the Thousand Islands, than here in Rochester.
May you have a happy holiday and a blessed new year.
Cornelis.
