pull cord jams intermittently on DT25

Hi all,<br /><br />I find that the pull cord on my 1997 DT25 suzuki often jams.<br /><br />Probably happens once every few pulls - i'll yank on the cord and it might budge a few inches then it'll lock up. <br /><br />i've gotten into the habit of start out softly and if it doesn't jam i give it a good yank - engine had no probs otherwise.<br /><br />Any ideas on where to start ?<br /><br /><br />thanks,<br />storm

check the shift interlock adjustment. if its worn or partially engaged it will lock the recoil mechanism.

we had same prob on my buddy's dt25, so i simply removed it. its a safety feature to keep you from starting the motor in gear and falling outa the boat accidentily. just be carefull.
