I'm pretty sure I need to pull the powerhead to replace my broken shifter on the 1975 25hp evinrude, but the clearance to get to that one bolt behind the exhaust housing, ..just whew. I don't think I can get to it. Any tips or tricks to share? I don't mind fabbing something up to temp shift, but the lever to keep spring pressure is gone as well.

Yes you have to remove powerhead.----Those bolts are not that hard to get to. in my opinion.------Use 1/4 drive tools.
