I'm trouble-shooting the fuel system on a 1970 Mercury 650. Battery and wiring are disconnected so I can get at the carburetors and fuel lines. I'm wondering if it's possible to pull start the engine without the battery and any wiring hooked up so that I can see if anything I'm working on the fuel system is resolving the issue (it will turn over and run for maybe 10-15 seconds, but it's not getting fuel and/or air). I don't see anything in the manual about being able to pull start it, but there's a pull cord that originally came with the engine, so assuming pull starting somehow is possible.
