Pull Starter Repair

I have a late 1960's Mercury 9.8hp motor that had the pull starter rope break. I have no experience with this type of repair but I hear that it is fairly simple. Does anyone have, or know where to obtain, step by step instructions on how to repair it?<br /><br />Many Thanks,<br />Rick

No I don't know of any intructions, but if the spring did not come loose/break, you should be able to just rewind it and slip a rope in and knot it off so it will rewind after a pull.<br />I have done my 9.9 Evinrude w/o any problem. Replacing the spring is a little more tricky.
