Hi folks, I have a 1996 Wellcraft with a 4.3L VP motor and SX drive. I have a stubborn oil leak that can only be the rear main seal. I am wanting to pull the motor this fall and go through all the gaskets and fix the leak and replace the manifolds and risers. The question is, once i disconnect everything that stays in the boat and get the drive off, can I just remove the 2 mount bolts at the front and then remove the bolts in the rear that attach the motor to the inner transom bracket. It looks like there are 5 or six of them that go over the flywheel housing. I don't really want to pull the intermediate housing on the drive and yank the whole inner bracket along with the motor like the Clymer manual suggests but don't want to get hung up either. Also, other than replacing all gaskets, is their anything else I should do while I have the motor out, I was planning on painting the bilge area a nice shiny white but any other suggestions are welcome, IE retorqing main bearing bolts ect.
Thanks
