pulling engine without pulling drive

I have 88 4.3 omc, I'm needing to replace the flywheel, iv heard if you have room to pull engine foward you can pull it without touching the drive, is this true and if so are their any tricks that I need to be aware of. Thanks for any help

The book outlines the proceedure for pulling engine only, but 6 nuts and the drives off so why not just pull it, if you happen to have stuck splines you'll be cussin an swearin anyhow.

Well I don't have alignment tool and didn't want to mess the alignment, as everything is working and running smoothly exept missing some teeth on flywheel

Ayuh,.... Yankin' the motor Messes with the Alignment....

not pullin' the drive, 'n Checkin' the alignment Co$t$ motor couplers...

buy a alignment tool... 35 bucks shipped to your door EBAY.. It is one of the evils of having a I/O.. Gotta have a alignment tool..
