Re: pulling engine
Piece of cake jadair. Either remove or support your outdrive unit. Pull the lag bolts out of the front motor mount feet, disconnect the exhaust hoses and outdrive water pump feed hose, disconnect all the electrical wiring from the harness. (it would be good to mark the location of each wire with a piece of masking tape) disconnect the throttle cable, find bolt locations to hook a chain, then pull the bolts/nuts? that go from the intermediate housing into the adaptor plate that is bolted to the back of the engine.
Once done hook your hoist to the chain, lift the weight off the stringers and move the engine forward till it unhooks from the splined drive shaft. Once cleared, hoist the engine up and out.
Occasionally, the splined shaft will be rusted to the coupler especially if it was used in saltwater. This will necessitate some care prying between the intermediate housing and the adaptor plate. Be carefull, these are all alumimum.
I pulled mine out after 30 years of use and had no trouble seperating them. Inspect your shaft and coupler splines carefully. They may be worn to the point you will need to replace them with the later model, beefier splined shaft and coupler.
Oh, you really ought to get a manual. A Seloc is marginal but will do in a pinch. OEM's are much better.
ps, if need be, you can pull the motor and intermediate housing as one unit. To do that, in addition to the above, you would need to disconnect the O/D shift wire, pull the drive and remove the boot retainer ring from the transom. Then stuff the boot inside the hole so that it won't hang up when you pull the motor out.
