The gunwales are 6' off the ground when on the trailer. Should I put the hoist in a pickup bed?
With a chain fall that'll reach far the ground?

You can build an "A" frame and put the chain hoist on it.
You can use a good tree, but I dont recommed that.
You can take it apart and have some buddys help you lift it out.
I guess it all depends on why your taking it out, and if you want it out of the boat or just out of the way.

I had a bobcat which had forks attached to it lift mine out. If you know some one with a service truck and a crane on it that will lift it out as well.
