any one ever pull a tube with a john boat if so how big was the boat and what size motor

A buddy has a large (16 ft?) jon boat he has towed a tube with. He has a 35hp Evinrude on back. I'm not sure if he has towed adults but it's no problem pulling kids on it.

I've pulled tubes with an 11' Metzler and a 4 hp.
It's a peaceful ride. The kids weren't that thrilled.

one issue with pulling anything behind a small flat bottom boat is that the object you tow will pull the boat around on turns.
As for tubes, once they are on a plane they are weightless. Getting them up with a small boat is the trick.

That's a great description. Yes, a tube can be pulled with just about anything, you just gotta' try it and see. When I was a kid we had a 14 ft. V-bottom aluminum fishing boat with a 7-1/2 HP outboard. I managed to pull a ski-board with that so I figure it could have also pulled a tube at a semi-decent speed.

Saw this in RI this last summer. The family looked as though they were having a blast. I think this was there dingy for a much larger/expensive boat.

Anyway, its one of those small 12' rafts with i think a 20hp on it.

i pulled a tub with 14 ft flat bottom jon boat it had a 25 hp motor. once it got on plane it was good fun. i had to make a turn and then gun it though to get it out on plane.
