After scrolling through some of the other post I found some great information, but still couldn't find my serial number to match up with an year. Is there another place on the motor itself that would produce a serial number?

If you title your thread with a clue about what you want you will have a much better chance of getting help.

You don't have to start a new thread. Just indicate what it is you need to know other than where to find the serial number. And if not knowing what year your engine is causes you to pull your hair out you need to find a different form of recreation.

Re: Pulling what's left of my hair out!!!!

Heh, you ain't kidding! Just bought a boat and motor 50hp Mariner 3 cyl. Bought from my neighbor who hasn't run it for about four year and it's got about 100hrs on it. Anyway, cleaned the carbs from top to bottom. Put the muffs on and it seemed to start and run very well. Checked the autoblend and added fuel stabilizer and ran it some more w/muffs and put new plugs in. Ran her some more w/muffs and everything seemed fine. Brought her out to the lake, wouldn't start, very short idle time, but my top end is really well. bring her down slowly sits in idle for about two mins and dies every time. Any suggestions?
