pulse pack only works when hot??

I have a 72 johnson 100 hp It has intermittent spark issues, won't start when it is cool out, however If you heat the pulse pack up with a hair dryer or heat gun it fires right up.... I assume this means that the pulse pack is bad? anyone else had this problem? thanks

Weak ignition components tend to fail when they heat up to normal operating temps-the opposite of what you are experiencing on your engine. Any chance that you have a loose connection somewhere that makes contact after it is heated up and expands? Check for any sign of corrosion on the terminals, plugs, grounds etc. You might remove and clean all the ground connections, then reinstall.
