Pumping the throttle......

She's seriously bogging under load (revs just fine out of gear) and generally will not go above about 2000 rpm or about 10-12 mph. I have found that if I gently feather the throttle up about 100 rpm at a time, I can sometimes get it to go up to 3200 rpm and about 25 mph. It would normally do 35-38 mph at WOT.

I also just figured out that if I pump the throttle up and down between 2/3 and 3/4 throttle I can get it to get up and run at 3200-3400. It's the wierdest thing...... I have to pump it up and down about once a second and the engine steadily climbs up to 3200 rpm and the boat planes out just fine (although it still won't go full power.... maybe 75-80%). If I hold the throttle down at 3/4, it bogs out and slows down, but if I pump it like a bike tire pump, it climbs steadily.

Anybody ever hear of this?
What could this possibly indicate???????

FYI, I took a bunch of water out of the tank a few days ago and changed the LP fuel pump and filter-separator. Also had a couple of backfires today while I was "bogging under load" and she died today while I was putting along at idle speed and then wouldn't restart for a minute or two.

Thanks,
-Nick

Re: Pumping the throttle......

Like I posted in one of your other threads, you have water in the fuel rail, injectors, etc. Until you get it cleaned and fixed right, it's not going to work.
