How does this listing sound?

1974 Starcraft 18 Ft. Bowrider Aluminum with roller trailer 14 inch wheels. Powered by a Mercruiser 140 hp. motor & stern drive great on fuel. Engine does require a start motor be installed, I have purchased one that I will include, $200 value. I would consider this a small projects boat, price does reflect that it requires a new floor, seat are getting weathered and there are some loose rivets that will require replacing. Still lots of time to have upgrades finished before spring fishing starts. There is a top on the boat with side windows, top does require some new snaps. Lights, horn, power trim, blower, gauges on the dash are in work condition also has a tolling motor bracket.

They are asking $2200. I saw some pics and it looks OK.

Would my Grand Caravan pull this? 3.3l

Do you think this would be worth it?

The price of the new floor + asking price, surpasses the boat's value. Replacing a floor can be expensive...

35 year old boat, and motor. way over priced. probably would not go for $2200 if it was perfect. my bid would not be more than $500.

I agree, sounds real pricey to me for a project.

The NADA site has aproximate weights. 18' Starcraft with sterndrive seem to run 1750 to 1915 lbs. I'd assume this weighs more with some age (gear, moisture in the decking, seating, etc)

YOu cant hear it run and check the engine compression if it doesnt have a starter. The seller knows it or why hasnt he spent 30 minutes and put the starter on? Makes me wonder.....RUN away Too much even if it does start and run

Re: purchase advice?

The reality here is that this is a great project boat. Mercruiser is good, aluminum hull is good, bowrider is good (more desireable than older closed bow models). It does need a new floor and probably a transom. Not too terrible a job on a aluminum boat. Problem is this guy has it priced like it's turn-key. TD is right, it really is only worth about $500-800.
