is it below the waterline? if so, it's an intake for something. if it's above the waterline, which i suspect, it's probably just an overboard drain for something. i have two up front for my fish boxes. the bilge drain is usually towards the stern.

eddy- you're probably correct. it's a drain for something, possibly the anchor locker. or it could be a common drain for your deck. most boats are "self-bailing", meaning water on deck will find drains and "bail" to a common overboard discharge. enjoy the new boat!

I'll go with the rope locker drain too, the only other thing I could think of would be a forward bilge pump. Hmmmm... I'll give Shaggy a call, he'll figue it out (they solve everything).
Seems obvious it's the drain for the anchor well. If it bothers you, cover it with a clam shell fitting. That's what came on my boat. Looks spiffy and does away with "Hey....did you know your boat has a hole in it???"

Frankie,
Clamshell,= metal or plastic cover, like the ones on your bilge vents... they come in Many sizes....
Look like 1/2 of a clam's shell.....
