put a name to my motor

i have a 1985 sunbird with a v6, can any one tell me the name of the motor that came in the 1985 sunbird. to have parts tested i need the name of the engine so parts can be cross referenced. the motor only has 3.8 4-v litre on it. please some one help. the boat is a 21 footer if this helps.

well........not positive, but OMC used this powerplant with an 800 series stringer drive...pictures would help.

Boats aren't like cars, several different makes and models of engine and drive could be in any particular boat.

no, there's a lot more info on it- you just have to do some reading - castings of the exhaust manifolds, ID tags - hang upside down with a flashlight- you'll find more info.

Mercruiser, OMC and Volvo all used the Chevy 3.8 engine in 85.
