Hi again,
Before replace my 305 with a brand new 350 i want to ask the following:
I'll keep the old outdrive (228) and the old cooling system with the long exhaust manifolds and the elbows at the back and the thermostat housing with the 8 hoses.Between my ex.manifolds and risers there is a block off plate with only a very small hole as a drain .Since there is no water circulation between them is there any reason to put into the Y-pipe flappers?
Not in order to avoid spending money but because i 'm afraid to dissasemble the Y-pipe due to possible corosion at bolts and possible leaking after puting the new engine .I won't stand this!

Yes, replace them.
The flappers block off the EXHAUST passage. That plate with the small hole in it blocks off the water passages. Has nothing to do with the exhaus passage (Large rectangular hole in the center)
