Running win 98. Had a fatale crash first of the year, had a tech reinstall the OS not original software, but still Win 98. now when I launch certain programs, a windows installer window open up. I have to close it several times before I can continue....not a fatale problem but highly annoying. Any help will be appreciated.

Time to upgrade..At least to Win XP<br /><br />Your going to slow... That system is seven years old. Alot of software will not support your system... Yes I hate it also.

what programs are you launching that insist on running windows installer?<br /><br /><br />....agree, an upgrade would be good... xp or just good ole win2000 pro

Thanks for the quick response......but I like my 98, that plus I don’t want to slow the machine down to much. As for which programs, the main one is my net zero IP service or when trying to access a disc.

That happened to me resently with XP pro, man is that annoying I tried a bunch of things, ended up reinstalling XP pro to get rid of it.
