I'm putting my lower unit back on after an impeller change and I can't get the damn thing to line up and reattach. I can get only get it to about an inch gap between the mid leg and the lower unit.

Any advice? I'm in the garage working on it now so a quick responce would be awesome.

the best i can think of would be the drive shaft spline is not lined up as it should. put it in gear and spin the propshaft while attempting instalation. be sure to return it to neutral prior to attaching shift linkage. I hope this helps

I had the same problem.. just keep trying you'll eventually get it in. Once you do it helps to have a second hand to keep it held while you pin the rods together.

I got it on, I just needed a second pair of hand to wiggle the fly wheel. That was my first tiem changing it, and the boats first one in 10 years or longer. The boats new to me and the previous owner was unaware of the need to replace it. The impeller was very bent and had a small chunk missing out of one of the fins.

Tomorrow is the lake test, wish me luck.
