Hello everyone,
Does anyone know where I can get a complete tilt and trim unit for a pontoon boat that has a J70ELCTD Johnson outboard on it? Also how hard is it to install becuase I have never installed one before? Thanks again, Bob:)

bubba, i have it, never use it, other than beaching, which is very rare. you would be better off getting a CMC add on unit, than try to put one together. either way you are looking at $500.

Our Starcrafts (toons) are sensitive to trim. It's nice to be able to balance a fore/aft load. Trimming also reduces a lot of noise.

Adding a OEM tilt/trim is not that difficult but it does require lifting the engine.

I have used a CMC TT for 5-6 years without a single problem, they are a bit pricey but you know they are going to work , come with a warranty, only take an hour or two to install and are going to last for years where a used TT you have to break the motor mount down to install them add relays and wiring ect and then they may or may not work.

Don't spend the money on the trim gauge, you will never use it.

Another advantage of the aftermarket tilt and trim unit is they set the engine back a little farther which puts it in less turbulent water.

Yes, I think I will hold off on buying one since they cost $500.00 or more. I would only use it when I beach it at the beach or at the camp site so that much money wouldn't jutify me buying one I will just man handle the engine if I need to tilt it up.:)
