I am rebuilding a qd 20 Johnson. I am a newby and have a seloc manual which I find hard to read an vauge in general for a newby like myself.
The motor has compression. I don't yet have a pressure check. I pulled the recoil and checked the condition of the points from the acess plate in the flywheel. The coils are covered with a red covering and everything appers like new in there.
I pulled out the sparkplugs and turned the motor over and there is spark present in both plugs. The spark itself apperars to be thin light blue. It is hard for me to pull over and watch plugs by myself.
So yesterday I decide to test out the motor by putting a bit of gas in each cylinder and turning the motor over. No sign of life at all. New plugs, properly gapped. The recoil rope appears too long for the motor as well so I don't know if that is the problem or if the coils are too weak to fire the motor. Any info much appreciated.
