qd10 start won't run

'54 5.5 , rebuilt carb. new plugs, wires, & points. pull and it won't start. it will turn over (start for about 2 seconds)if I squirt premix down the carb then pull. This motor has a double line (gas and air) going to the tank. the filter bowl is full. what should i check first. it will start 2 outta 3 times with the premix but dies immediately.

Howdy, Gain.<br /><br />First, check the tank and lines for leaks. Check that the primer on the tank actually pumps gas into the carb bowl.<br /><br />However, it is almost certain that the carb rebuild did not clear all jets. Try again, and use carb cleaner and compressed air to clear all those tiny passages and orifices.<br /><br />Good luck and let us know what you find.

the primer does squirt gas back out from the button but gas is still pumping into the bowl. it seems like maybe gas is backing back down the fuel line after I crank it a few times?
