question about 5 blades

Just a question about prop types, I am hoping that Santa is going to bring me a new prop. So I am beginning to think about it and had some questions.

ok so I know that 4 blades give better holeshot while sacrificing some top end versus a three blade.

But my question is would a five blade of a higher pitch alleviate this compromise. Better holeshot and equal top end.

Just wondering since I have no exp. with these types of set up. I have seen several other people with my boat and motor combo that are running these five blade props.

Re: question about 5 blades

How the boat is set up will determine what bld number will be required and the use of said boat will add more to that equation.
Typically, 5-bld props are much smaller in diameter and 2-3" less pitch than a prop that pulls "X" RPM. The higher the blade number 3,4,5,etc..the lower the speed in most cases where the drive heigth is "fixed" or cannot be changed to run higher or lower-not trim, but physical height of prop-shaft in relation to hull bottom.
Hole-shot tends to increase with blade numbers with lower "stay-on-plane" speeds, but increasing pitch on a 5-bld will kill the performance over-all.
