My 'new' boat came on an Eagle tandem, surge drums on both axles. I had to replace the MC, MC spring mounts, dampers, and the rear backing plate/brake assemblies. Dico Model 10 actuator.
The brakes seem to be working, but there is quite a bit of lag on them actuating. The brakes on my 23' jetboat's trailer actuate almost as soon as I apply the brakes (tandem trailer with singe axle brakes). The Dico has a restrictor that installs between the MC and brake line. I'm guessing this is where the lag comes from? I know it came from the factory this way, but what would happen if I removed the restrictor? Would the brakes just lock up?
Is this brake lag time normal for larger boats?
The boat is a 26' Wellcraft Nova II, about 6000lb.
