Hey guys, I have a 69 buick 155 horse and want to replace the points/condensor setup and go electronic. Does Pertronix make a setup that will work for this motor? If so, should i also change the ignition coil?

Thanks

Hello! Yes, they do! go to WWW.PERTRONIX.COM Download their application chart. I'm sure your engine is on the list. They make upgrades for cars, trucks, boats...etc. Standard coil does not have to be replaced, upgrade is made to work perfectly with it. Unit is easy to install. It will make your engine start fast and idle smooth. Put one on my boat and don't miss the old points a bit! Good luck!

Very good product, have personally installed maybe 4-5, never had one fail. Yes, change the coil, may as well start off fresh, You dont absolutly have to though. Wires too. Ive had the best luck opening up the spark plug gap a bit also after the conversion.

ITG, I have the Pertronix unit in my Buick v/6, and have run it for two years. I couldn't be more happy with it. Be sure to purchase the Pertronix II unit (because of the burnout protection if the key was left in the on position and the boat not running) also pickup their coil to go with it, lots of volts. good luck....Pappy

Make sure the hot feed to the Pertronix goes to a switchable 12V source per the instructions. My EX-mechanic wired mine to the coil positive post. When my resistor cable degraded over time, the voltage at the coil post would drop, and the Pertronix would shut down. It took 2 years and 2 mechanics to troubleshoot that problem.
