Question about head

Can someone tell me if the head off from a 1981 25hp evinrude fit onto a 1989 25hp Evinrude.<br /><br />Not sure if the model # helps but here it is <br />1981 model # J25ELCIB<br />1989 model # TE25ELCEB <br /><br />Thanks Again,<br /><br />Voxmorgan

I believe it will work. Youll have to use the 89 head complete with the water jacket cover because that is different than the 81.<br /><br />Something keeps nagging at me that there was an odd reason something elase was an issue. The only thing I can think of is that there may be a clearance issue with the hood because of the different shape. That may not be it at all.
