Question about Lund

Hi
I am a current owner of a 2009 Legend 16 Xterminator with a 2006 50 hp Mercury 4-stroke.

I would like to upgrade to a bigger boat with a full windshield console and found a good deal on a 2009 Lund 1825 Rebel XL Sport with a 90 hp Mercury 4-stroke.

Can anyone tell me how this boat handles in rough water? My main reason for exchanging my boat is that it is quite a rough ride in rough waters and I would like something that handles it better.

Also the bilge pump on the lund is manual. Can anyone tell me how that works? Is there still a pump that you have to turn on or is it something else?

Should I be looking at something else?
I also had my eye on Princecraft and Crestliner but the Lund has the best price right now.

Re: Question about Lund

For rough water stay with the Lund. They are tough boats. A bilge pump is either manual or automatic but both are electric. Manual is just that. You turn it on when needed. Automatic means when set to the AUTO mode if the bilge has water in it the pump will start and stop automatically. In the manual position it operates -- well the same as a manual pump. For a dry ride you can't beat Lund, Alumacraft, and Crestliner in that order and all three are very close together. Lund has the best resale value.

I agree with Silvertip. Lund's have great resale so if the new prices are close you'll thank yourself for picking the Lund down the road.

Re: Question about Lund

I am leaning more towards the Lund but the only thing that bothers me is that it only has a 19 gallon fuel tank. Most other ones that I looked at which are even smaller boats (17 feet) have a 40 gal fuel tank.

How does Princecraft compare to those boats mentioned above?

Princecraft is a solid boat. Also tracker, lowe, and g3 are nice

Re: Question about Lund

My brother used to have an 18' Lund before he got his 26' hydrasport with twins. We had the Lund out in the gulf many times outside of galveston off the bay, it did well.

Re: Question about Lund

Lunds are tough boats...great build quality. Not sure what kind of water you are planning to use it on, but they were made for the serious fisherman. I have a 14 foot fishing boat...and it is stable for a 14 footer. The extra length will help in handling rougher water, but what kind of rough water are you talking about? If you are trying to get a smooth ride in two feet or more waves in that size boat may be hard if not impossible to find.
