Question about running my boat out of water to 4k rpm's with hose?

Title says it all. Local river is 2 hours away (Parker, AZ). My boat won't exceed 3k rpms. I replaced all fuel hoses, took Don's advice on checking the fuel pump (low pressure). I replaced the fuel filter, replaced the anti siphon valve. I also replaced all 3/8 hose lines. I took out the 2bl corrodded holley carb and put in a 4bl 1409 edelbrock. I also put in a new air filter (k&n) 12'' as opposed to the 6x2'' metal one that was on it.

Anyhow.... Can I hook a hose up to my boat and start it, and increase idle to 4k rpm's to see if I can exceed the 3k before I take it out to the water? IDK if it's safe to increase RPM even with the hose on it or not. Thought I'd get some advice before I go home tonight.

Thanks in advance everyone.

turning it without load on a hose does not say anything if your boat will perform well in the water or not. you may give it a short burst to check if it acc well- but running permanently with high revs on a hose is neither necesseary nor smart i would say .

cheers

If you ust want to know if it is going to rev up that fast you can get a old trash can and cut a slot in one side so it fits around the motor. Fill it up with water and hit the gas.

without a load, running it on muffs means nothing. it takes about 15hp to spin the engine without a load, as compared to 150ish to push the boat

Ayuh,.... Neither approach will tell ya a thing, other than the motor starts, 'n runs...

It's the LOAD that's holdin' back yer motor, not the Rpms...
