Question about space between spinner cone and prop

I have pickup up a 1990 Baretta Success 185 from an auction so I do not know any background info about the boat. It has an AQ131D motor with an SP-A outdrive (not sure about what model ie: 270, 275, 280)

There is about a 3/8" space that the prop slides back and forth on the splines. From reading other posts, it looks like I have a short shaft.
The prop is bottoming out on the splines and it seems to be the correct distance between the prop and zinc ring when fully seated on the shaft. The line cutter is completely worn out and missing the thrust washer. Is it possible that a new thrush washer/line cutter will be the solution to this 3/8" gap?
The spinner cone is threading all the way on until it bottoms internally and I have the spacer washer installed.
I have made a plastic spacer for the now so I can give the boat a water test before I jump into purchasing parts for all the repairs that it will require. Does anybody see a problem with this spacer for a temporary solution?

I guess that it also completely possible that this is just the wrong prop for this outdrive... What do you guys think?

Also, I am having trouble identifying exactly what type of outdrive it has in order to order the correct thrust washer... The tag says SP-A, 2.15 ratio, 854011 and I cannot quite make out the other 10 digit number.

My best guess is that the line cutter P/N: that I will need is 839534...
