Question about Teleflex NFB

I currently have a 19ft Hydra Sport Aero Cat150 with a GT150. The old Detmar dual cable steering system is completely froze up. I am considering installing the Teleflex(single) Rotary NFB on it. But keep in mind I'm a putter not a run and gunner. This boat will probably never see WOT. Any thoughts out there?

I will never again be without it. You can let go of the wheel and the engine torque will not turn you. Takes a bit to get used to it as it takes just a slight touch to release the clutch.

Re: Question about Teleflex NFB

No feed back steering systems have a clutch. If you went back to the engine and tried to turn it side to side the steering is locked and you can't make the helm turn like you can on a conventional system. When you turn the wheel slightly (just one or two degrees) the clutch releases and the wheel will turn normally. The clutch or locking mechanism is what makes it NFS.

Re: Question about Teleflex NFB

Only thing I would mention is the fact that you said you probably wouldn't see WOT with it. I think 150 hp is the dividing line for dual cables vs single. Someone can correct me on this.

I too recently installed the single rack and pinion NFB Teleflex-Morse system (90 hp ) and I really like it. Never did like the wheel spinning when you take your hands off it.
