question about vin number

I just bought a boat and i am having trouble getting it in my name.I am looking for a identification number or (vin). This is a Venture boat last used in 2007. I have the control number on the tag,but it does not help. Where is the identification number on this boat?

Starboard side of the transom at the very top

You're looking for the Hull Identification Number (HIN). It's usually cast right into the fiberglass.

Yep, or it could be on an aluminum tag on the transom. Look for rivet holes as an indicator that it was removed if you cannot find it.

How long it was stored means nothing, what year is the boat. If it's to old, there may not be a HIN.

id number should also be on the registration card and the title.

If you don't have these, you are trying to reach the moon by climbing a tree.

I had to take my boat to the NJ state police for a HIN inspection where they deemed it was too old to have a HIN.

The boat, I thank, is a 1983; or so the motor is in this date range. Thanks for the advice. I will check on this tomorrow.
