Question about water

Hi, I have a 74 merc 650 (3 cyl) and I have just gotten it running. Changed waterpump and I get a great tattle tale stream coming out but where else does water come out? It doesn't seem to come out anywhere else. The reason I ask is that this is my first outboard and the tattle tail port was all blocked up initally, so could something else be cloggged. I just really want to make sure that their is nothing else blocked up before I take it out on the open water. BTW I am using one of those flusher attachments and have not run it past idle because my repair book said not to. Any replys would be helpful, thank!

I have the same motor 1975 and water should only come from the water exhaust line. there is a problem if it is coming from anywhere else. You should definately check out why it was plugged though, and your water impeller. Good move always following the repair manual.

the water should come out with the exaust thru the center of the prop. sounds like something plugged in the lower part of the water jacket

Thanks, the problem with the tattle tail was a wasp had plugged it up with mud. Took off the watercover plate and cleaned it out for good measure (found more crud in there, grit ect). Yes their was water coming from the prop area, I thought it was another problem with the motor(seal below the water pump). Checked the prop lube this morning and it looked ok. I think I am ready for the lake. Thanks everyone! Denial
