When i was head first upside down in the bilge, trying to connect some hoses, i noticed that the bellhousing is about 3/8 inch above the transome assy, with the bolts tightened down,,,<br />97 rinker bravo 2 replacing engine.<br />is this normal? I put all the pcs back as they came out, with the space and flat washers,<br />alignment tool goes in freely<br />is back of engine too high?

<br /><br />If so, C should be just touching the fiber washer H. <br />Did you by any chance replace the rear mounts while it was out?

bottom of c to top of h<br />distributor that i got motor from said somehting about eliminating the double wound lockwasher, but they are stil in there. tried to install lower unit, hard push , but i was trying it alone

rear mounts on boat were not replaced. rear mounts on engine were with the new engine

Something is wrong!<br />Did your motor come with a new bellhousing (with mounts) already on it?

i am quitting for the day, going to take a shower and go get some chineese food. ill take the rear mount bolts loose one nite and see if a cable or something is in the way. have you heard of eliminating the lockwasher on newer units?

You should have listened to him. Now you have to pull the double lock washers out and realign the engine.<br />Here is an excerpt from the service bulletin on the new style mounts.<br /><br />

don,,, im getting used to this, rich people pay a lot of money to sweat as much as i have over this boat. at least i know what direction im going in. this is simple compared to some of the stuff ive done in the last week, and its in the shop, not in the middle of the river, in the middle of the night<br />thanks
