Question on a better prop for a 2000 mecury 125 outboard

I have a 2000 1802 bayliner capri cuddy with a 125 mercury outboard. It has the original factory prop on there. I was wondering if a stainless steel prop would make a difference in performance, and what pitch should I use. Right now it seems to plan really slow. Thanks again
