There's one I never heard of! Where did you find that piece of information?

wayne34609,

That is pure "poppycock".

If the auto filter trapped the oil, you would see it.

Not to mention, the millions of others that have done the same thing were all destined to toast their engines-not.

The only thing I worry about is where it is placed. If it breaks, will it leak into a bilge?

A filter cannot separate the gas and oil any more than it can separate scotch and water or rum and coke. This is the 2nd time someone posted that kind of misinformation on this board. Who is coming up with these stories?

Re: question on in line fuel filters

Well guys I read that on one of the repair forums i visit and have read it on here at other times so don't jump down on my case for something that I believed to have been written in good faith. You could have written that you think I was misinformed on this and it would have been alright but to work it like you three did you sound like you made a mistake , When you come off with that kind of attitude with me you can take this board and shove it. I don't need this kind of treatment.

BTW Wayne I am sorry for giving you the wrong info

bubbakat,

Sorry that you took it the wrong way, it wasn't meant to get on anyone's case. That was not my intention. I was just wondering how that question came up twice recently. That urban legend has not surfaced for quite a few years until now.

bubbakat: I apologize if I came across as being brusque in my reply. Maybe one of the things that gives that story credibility is the warning about using automotive parts in marine applications. Certainly most of those warnings must be followed. Now untie the knot in your shorts.
