I believe from the serial number 7104398 the Mercury 110 Thunderbolt 9.8 H.P. motor was made in Canada in 1977 or78. I am not positive but want to do some maintenance and don't understand the flush port or how it works? Also is need to change lube if there is two ports like most OB?

Also all I notice is major maintenace or repair catologs for many motors instead of being able to get one for this motor? Is

That is a 1977 model. Yes, there are 2 screws, a drain and a vent, for changing the lower unit oil. Be sure to use new gaskets. Do a search for OEM Mercury manuals. They are available.

The flushing port under the lower motor cowling is only used with a non-running motor. There is a special hose attachment that screws into the threaded flushing hole. On most motors the flush port will be plugged up from non-use (particularly in a Salty Dog motor).

You're better-off running the motor in a barrel if you've operated it in salt water. That way all portions are thoroughly flushed including the water pump (which will see little or no water when using the flush attachment).
