Question on motor value

I got a '71 johnson 2hp motor. the whole thing is in good condition, there being no dents, the shaft and lower unit has basically all paint, green, and the motor/spring cover has most paint while the attached gas tank has alot of exposed metal. it has no rust, and runs great after i got the spring rewound, and a tune up last year. so about how much should i put its selling price?<br /><br />mike

sounds like a $45 outboard -- but don't think it would work as an inboard....

are you sure $45? i dont see how that could be, there are 2hp outboards in the paper all the time for $200+. maybe i misunderstood you. please reply.<br /><br />mike

hambone, sounds like you have a good idea about what your going to ask for it. keep in mind that boats and motors dont sell real good at this time of year. that said, i think you can get maybe $100-$120. if it looks and runs good!

I would agree with roscoe, you may find the right person that would even give 150.00???<br /> Investing, and buying are 2 different areas, and in your best intrest, I hope you get a "buyer".....Good luck!

Ole' catfish beat me to the punch....this IS the worst time to sell, but this is when the "investers" are out and about-lokking for that great deal. If you can, wait 'till spring, and I think you'll get a few more bucks!!!!<br />p.s....whatch that catfish....his barbels are on the hunt!!!!
