Question on Solas vs. Michigan Wheel, and Thrust Washers

Hi Folks,

I'm looking to replace the 14x17 aluminum prop on my 2001 90HP Johnson OceanPro. I'm either going to go with Solas Amita or Michigan Match.

I had a Solas prop on an old boat I used to own and it was a good prop that held up well. But just wondering if Michigan was superior in any way. It's a little more expensive, and you know what they say about getting what you pay for. Also, Michigan makes a 14x17 while Solas has a 13.25x17. Would this slight change in diameter make any significant difference in performance from my current prop?

Also, had a question on the thrust washer... On my old boat, I just kept the OEM thrust washer on through a couple prop changes and never noticed the difference, but I'm not sure if it would be the same with this engine. Are the Solas or Michigan props made to fit with the OEM thrust washer or should I buy a new one?

Diameter is usually a secondary consideration.If the prop is intended for your motor the diameter should be correct.
if you check prop pitch as pitch goes up usually diameter goes down.As blades are added diameter usually goes down.

Ayuh,... Ditto,... 'n the thrust hub is both prop, 'n propshaft Specific...

Ole MW props didn't use a hub at all, nor does my L&S props...
