First of all thank you so much for replying on my previus topic in regards to the boat leaving me dead and overheating.

Well, as anticipated, once the starter was replaced the boat fired up without a problem. The engine starts really smooth and right away which is a good pieace of mind no doubt.

Well, now I am left with the temperature overheating problem. The marine mechanic tells me that the engine going close to 190 degrees is perfectly normal. The maximum temperature on the gauge is 250, so I assume that 190-200 shouldn't be that much of a trouble.

We had 3 people in the boat, a larson, 1996, 3.0 4 cylinder and we just cruised going fast and slow on occassions, while resting twice for 15 minutes. The whole trip took no more than 45 minutes. On the way back I saw that the temperature gauge was showing 180-200 degrees. Is that normal?

Re: Question on temperature

If you are FWC it can climb when you throttle down between 10 and 20 degrees but it should be only temporary .Charlie

Re: Question on temperature

Alek, keep in mind that water boils @ 212 degrees F after a hard run of about 15 minutes at cruise, slow to a stop/ideling check temp. Now while stopped in neutral increase RPM to 1200 and allow the temp to come back down and see where it settles. Glad its working keep an eye on the oil every outing.
