Hello,
.
I currently have a 20 foot 2002 Larson V-hull on a single axle trailer. The magic tilt trailer has an adjustable axle. When I bought the boat, I had to move the bowstop forward to bring the transom over the rear support bunks and then also move the axle forward to get the tongue weight into proper range.
The eyeball test suggests that I could use a longer tongue as the boat seems a tad bit close to the truck. I can drop the tailgate and still have room to stand in the water and winch up the boat, but it looks closer than normal (I have yet to actually launch and retrieve the boat with this setup). Is there a rule of thumb for how close the bowstop/boat can be to the truck? It just seems a little close to me.
Thanks for any suggestions or guidelines.
