Hello, just bought this engine to put on a 2002 Larson 20 footer. The Merc came off a bass boat and had dual cable steering. The current Larson it's going on has a single cable helm. Can I just use one cable on this setup with the Merc as it will be low-mid 40s WOT in all likelihood? I assume the dual cable is for higher speeds?

Thanks for advice!

Yes.... save your money... the dual cable gives you more control for the heavy motor however at those speeds you can turn it with one cable.. I have a 19ft pickle that does 90 with dual cable and you cannot turn it do to the torque at those speeds.. I also have an 18ft checkmate with a 175h.p. and only using a single cable with no problem. The dual helm and additional cable are not cheap.. best steering is hydraulic which will cost you a grand plus install...hope this helps...Steve
