Hi, I have a 1987 V-6 XR2 150 HP and a '87 115 HP inline 6. I tried to use the 13X19 P Mercury Black Diamond prop from the 115 on the V-6 gearcase and although it fits, I noticed that the bullet diameter on the V-6 gearcase is bigger than the 115 gearcase. The boat-motor combo with the V-6 is new, so I am trying to set up the motor. It's revving out of the hole with the 13X19P from the 115 and not planing:

Could the smaller diameter hub conceivably cause ventilation due to the exhaust gases going through and over the smaller hub from the 13X19 P prop when used on the larger gearcase? Iboats list a larger diameter 19P (14.5 X 19) for the V-6, so just wanted to eliminate this issue before I start trying out different motor height with the jackplate.
The V-6 is on a 21 ft runabout/bowrider and I tried the jackplate at the lowest and midrange setting, and the motor still revs with the 13X19 P prop from the inline 6.

The hub is not spun as the prop uses the Flo-Torq II hub.

Thanks for the clarification!

Re: question re: prop hub diameter for inline 6 vs V-6?

The inline 6 hub is 4", and most v6 hubs are 4 1/2". Exceptions are some of the XR series. My XR4 has a 4" hub.

A 4" through hub prop run on a 4 1/2 inch LU will ventilate and not bite without an adapter ring to direct the exhaust through the prop. Best solution is the right prop.

hope it helps
