Question: What not to buff and polish?

Hello Everyone?

A couple of questions:

1) Should I tape off the bottom paint with something as to avoid the buffer running over it?

2) Should buff over or around the state decals (as not to pull them off with the buffer)?

3) Do I need to buff and polish the front of the boat (under the bow)?

Thanks,
Paul Bolden

Tape off the bottom paint, tape off the registration decal, buff under the bow. If you are using a compound just be carefull around the decals/tape. I buffed over a registration decal and almost buffed off the print. Go around the water line with 1" painters tape then below/lapped on that use 2",if ya get wax and stuff in the bottom paint it dosent come off easily,it will wear off but till then it looks like ya did a sloppy job.
Good luck,happy buffing!

if you put tape on the bottom paint you will probably pull it off with the tape. It's easier just to work around that and the numbers; a light touch won't hurt anything

Never had that happen, but I suppose it can, expecially if it was applied wrong or its on its last legs. Dont rip the tape off like a band aid, slow and easy.

Use the Green Painters tape- it won't pull off decals or paint.
