Hello, I just inherited 1982 70hp Mercuy outboard that has been stored for 20 years. Beleive it or not it cranked right up. It is running hot so I am going to change impeller. I tried to drop lower unit and it only came down 1/8 inch. Is their any shift linkage that may be holding it? I think this has a splined shift shaft and it should fall out. Any insight would be appreciated. I have gently appled force with wood wedges, it will not budge. This motor has less than 20 hours on it. Does this motor have a thermostat? Thanks in advance,
