Hi I have a Mercury 4.3l 190hp tks motor 2010. I noticed a black what appears to be a 50 amp reset button on top of motor by carb. There is a yellow wire coming off of this which is not
Connected to anything. Does that end go to the battery terminal ?? Thank you. Aee

I believe the screw it's hooked to is ground,....

That's not yellow, it's yellow/green. It's not a standard BIA marine wire colour. That an earth wire in house wiring, and had no place on a boat! You'll find the wire isn't tinned, so will corroded very quickly. It's a negative for something, and I would find out what that something is and wire it in properly (hooking the negative up like that isn't 'properly'!) PO needs a solid kick in the pants!
