i put my lower unit back on and to my surprise, the little rubber piece that the shift rod goes through pop off and was laying there. is this piece neccessary? i dont see where it seals anything and the bottom of it is clean. if not i have to take the whole thing apart again!!

Jeff,

Give us the size/make/year of your motor.

Most of the time, if there is a rubber seal somewhere, it needs to be there.

Re: question!!!

yea its just a rubber circle thing with a lip around it. i dont think it could seal anything if it had to.
