Looking for a little advice....
I just inherited a 18' alum cc w/o motor. I have a line on a evinrude 70 h.p. Is that a suitable motor for this boat? Also, is my Jeep Cherokee enough truck to tow with? This is my 1st boat any insight would be appreciated

Re: Question

Not knowing what the boat weighs its kinda hard to tell! Your question asked if it was adaquate! Id say yes it is adaquate but would be better with at least a 90 in my opinion! My guess is that it is rated at about 140! Im a big advocate of powering a boat at the max rated HP! That way you have the power if you need it and you do not have to run the boat at WOT just to keep it up on plane! You would probably use as much fuel at WOT with the 70 as you would at 2/3 throtle with a 140! There should be some realy good buys out there on the older 90-140s with everyone going to 4 strokes!

If your Jeep is a 6 cylinder you should have no problems towing the boat with it providing it has brakes on the trailer! Check the towing capacity and do not overload it!

Hope this helps!!

LubeDude

Re: Question

Look at the plate at the rear of the boat on the transom for the rated horsepower. nevjb
