I have a 1997 Bayliner Capri 2050 with a 210hp 5.7 Mercruiser (2bbl carb) and an Alpha 1 (Gen2). The boat came with a stainless HighFive 19 pitch prop and I have questions about the prop. Is it too much? The boat tops out around 32mph (4200rpm) whether cruising with a full boat or pulling a tube. The boat is quick out of the hole and gets to its top speed fast, but just will not accelerate beyond that. Thoughts? The boat seems to have plenty of power, but I thought it would have a better top end end. We mainly use it for tubing, so would there be a better prop to use that would give me more top end when cruising?

Re: Questions about prop: New boat owner

your wot rpms should be in the 4400-4800 to get the best performance out of your motor. id like to see 4600 . a 19 high five will have good hole shots. i would recomend going to a 18p 4 blade if hole shot means everything or a 19p 3 blade will work either one of these will bring rpms close to where they need to be if speed means everything pull the wallet out and and find a ss one with top end characteristics good luck
